Leigh Mardon Chooses Scalable and Microsoft Dynamics™ AX
Leigh
Mardon, Australia’s
longest-established and most
trusted supplier of secure transaction products,
services and logistics in Asia Pacific
has
chosen Australia’s largest Microsoft Dynamics™ AX
partner, Scalable Data Systems (Scalable), to implement
Microsoft Dynamics™ AX throughout their Australian
operations.
Scalable,
a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, demonstrated
their continuing commitment to Australia’s Print and
Packaging Industry by winning the right to implement
the new ERP solution for Leigh Mardon following a
stringent tender selection process assisted by
Pitcher Partners. During the implementation, Scalable
will work in close conjunction with Leigh Mardon and
Microsoft to improve enterprise-wide IT integration,
data flow and reporting to all levels of the
business.
Leigh
Mardon chose Scalable based on their experience, the
Microsoft Dynamics™ AX solution mix and the ability
to standardise the entire IT platform to create
greater interoperability throughout the
organisation.
“Scalable
has demonstrated strong skills in implementing
Microsoft Dynamics™ AX and focuses solely on the
Dynamics™ AX product,” said Mr. Ollie Morris,
Group Manager - ERP
of Leigh Mardon.
“This
single product focus and specialisation, coupled
with their extensive experience in the Manufacturing
industry, gained our confidence from the beginning.
The Scalable staff are very knowledgeable and have shown
a commitment to work with us to create a business
model for our future success,” Mr. Morris said.
A key
part of the implementation will be the Print &
Packaging module for Microsoft Dynamics™ AX which
addresses the specific needs of companies in the
printing and packaging industry. The AX Print and
Packaging module has been successfully implemented
in similar operations throughout Europe, UK and the
USA.
“The Print & Packaging module is extremely flexible;
is built to suit our industry activities and plugs
in to Microsoft
Dynamics™
AX seamlessly to the user. It was important to us
that people experienced a consistent user
interface.” Mr Morris said.
The
use of the AX Print & Packaging module will allow
Leigh Mardon to integrate their printing operations
with the back office, allowing for greater
automation of business processes.
Microsoft Dynamics™ AX will replace a number of
disparate databases throughout Leigh Mardon’s
enterprise. These databases were mainly supported
internally, eating up a large amount of time and
resources. According to
Scalable Data System’s Director of Professional
Services, Mr. Brett Crew the Microsoft Dynamics™ AX
system opens up a range of data integration
possibilities for Leigh Mardon.
“The
selection of Microsoft Dynamics™ AX was in alignment
with our strategy to standardise on the Microsoft
platform and benefit from the seamless integration
across the Microsoft technology stack. We’re
looking forward to achieving greater efficiencies
throughout the organisation and delivering improved
services as a result.” said Mr. Morris.
As part
of their entire solution upgrade, Leigh Mardon will
also implement a number of Microsoft technology
products, including an enterprise wide portal based
on Microsoft Sharepoint Portal to extend business
processes to employees and external parties.
Alongside the portal, BizTalk Server and SQL Server
2005 Integration Services will be used to construct
an Enterprise Service bus for connecting disparate
and legacy applications.
Leigh
Mardon
is now also standardising on .NET and Visual Studio
to build its next generation Web, Smartclient and
Web Services Applications.
The
implementation has started and will be rolled out in
stages throughout the enterprise with planned
completion in 2007.
FURTHER INFORMATION:
Background - Leigh
Mardon
Leigh Mardon services over 1000
customers, including Australia's four major banks,
Federal and State governments and many authorities.
In the past decade, and particularly over the past
five years, these organisations have increasingly
outsourced many of their requirements to Leigh
Mardon because they offer technology competencies
and an integrated service, which they could not
maintain in-house.
Leigh Mardon’s existing solution
had been in place for more than 20 years. Over this
time, a significant number of stand alone customised
systems have been developed outside of the ERP
environment – many replicating functions of the ERP
system and creating information silos and
duplication of effort.
